When Harley-Davidson announced its 2024 lineup the first week of January, nobody noticed. The reason was obvious: the Milwaukee-based OEM’s initial announcement featured mostly unchanged carry-overs from 2023.
But a few significant tourers were missing, most notably the top-selling Street Glide. Harley said additional models would be released in late January, which naturally built anticipation. And now we know what The Motor Company was up to.
Harley unveiled the remaining 2024 "new" models, including the Street Glide and Road Glide. These tourers arrive with the Milwaukee-Eight 117, returned for more power, some updated comfort, and lighter weight.
In a grand tribute to the 25th anniversary of Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO), Harley-Davidson released the new CVO Road Glide ST model, which builds upon the trending hot rod bagger performance concept. With its racing-inspired suspension and brakes, the mighty Milwaukee-Eight 121 HO engine released in 2023, and a finely tuned low final drive ratio, this CVO is crafted to satiate the adrenaline hunger of the most spirited riders.
And then, making its entrance into the adventure touring arena, is the CVO Pan America.
Yes, you read that correctly. Harley decided to give its debut adventure tourer that goes head-to-head with the BMW GS and Ducati Multistrada the CVO treatment.
“These exciting new models represent a new era for Harley-Davidson, elevating every aspect of performance, technology, comfort, and style,” says Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson. “Without question, these are the most enticing touring motorcycles ever offered by Harley-Davidson.”
Following are highlights of the updates. Expect these Harley rentals on Twisted Road soon. This especially provides the perfect test ride situation for those looking to spend the money on this new touring and CVO Harleys.
2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide and Road Glide Updates
The 2024 iterations of the Street Glide and Road Glide models receive some powertrain upgrades and some styling overhauls.
Both models sport a refined fairing profile that marries a fresh, modern look with the unmistakable Harley-Davidson design heritage, creating an immediate sense of familiarity.
Key enhancements include:
-
Upgraded Powertrain: The revamped Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine introduces an advanced cooling system, elevating thermal comfort for the rider and augmenting both intake and exhaust flow to amplify performance.
-
Selectable Ride Modes: The bike features four selectable modes—Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom—offering electronic modulation of the motorcycle's performance dynamics.
-
Next-Gen Infotainment: Experience the latest tech-forward infotainment powered by Skyline OS, displayed on a 12.3-inch TFT color touchscreen. This system replaces traditional analog instruments and most switches, complemented by a 200-watt audio amplifier and fairing-mounted speakers for an immersive sound experience.
-
Enhanced Aerodynamics and Comfort: Harley says refined aerodynamics significantly reduce helmet buffeting at highway speeds by an average of 60 percent, promoting a smoother ride. The rear suspension travel extends to 3 inches, and the bike features a reimagined one-piece seat with improved shape and padding materials, ensuring prolonged comfort during your rides.
2024 CVO Road Glide ST Updates
The 2024 CVO Road Glide ST stands at the pinnacle of Harley-Davidson's CVO lineup. Its deep solo seat, six-inch riser, and handlebar place the rider in a commanding, upright stance that exudes West Coast custom flair.
Key features include:
-
Exclusive Paint Options: Choose between two paint finishes—Golden White Pearl or Raven Metallic, accented with a Screamin' Eagle graphic on the fairing sides and fuel tank, inspired by the Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson Factory motorcycles. The CVO 25th Anniversary graphics celebrate a legacy of factory customization.
-
Engine Performance: The heart of the CVO Road Glide ST is the Milwaukee-Eight 121 High Output V-Twin engine, exclusive to this model. It's precision-tuned to unleash a formidable 127 horsepower (94kW) and 145 lb. ft. (193 Nm) of torque, setting new records for factory-installed engine performance in a production Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Its lower final drive ratio is meticulously chosen to amplify acceleration across all gears.
-
Lightweight Construction: The innovative use of materials trims the dry weight to 800 pounds (363 kg). The bike boasts titanium-shell mufflers, forged carbon fiber end caps, and lightweight composite construction for the front fender, seat cowl, tank console, and oil pan. The wheel design and wave-style front brake rotors are engineered to minimize unsprung weight, enhancing agility and response.
-
Advanced Suspension System: The ST arrives with fully adjustable front and rear suspension, featuring SHOWA® rear shock absorbers with remote reservoirs and inverted 47mm SHOWA 1x1 forks.
-
Braking Performance: Premium Brembo braking components deliver exceptional braking feel and performance, instilling confidence in every turn and stop.
-
Customizable Ride Modes: The Ride Modes—Road, Sport, Track, Track Plus, Rain, and multiple Custom modes—allow you to electronically fine-tune the motorcycle's performance characteristics to suit your style and conditions.
-
Revamped Infotainment: The infotainment technology is powered by Skyline OS. A color touchscreen replaces traditional analog instrumentation, while a premium audio system featuring a 500-watt amplifier and Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II 6.5-inch fairing speakers envelops you in rich, immersive sound.
2024 CVO Pan America
The CVO Pan America also emerges as an adventurous new chapter in the CVO program. It retains the acclaimed features of the Pan America 1250 Special model, including the Revolution Max 1250 engine, semi-active front and rear suspension, touchscreen display, selectable ride modes, and Daymaker Adaptive Headlamp technology.
This model is equipped with Adaptive Ride Height suspension, durable aluminum top and side cases, a Screamin' Eagle quickshifter, tubeless laced wheels, auxiliary LED forward lighting, and an aluminum skid plate.
As for pricing? These are the top offerings, so pricey. The MSRP begins at $25,999 for the 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide, $42,999 for the CVO Road Glide ST, and $28,299 for the CVO Pan America.
These new 2024 models are scheduled to reach authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships in January 2024. For additional details, visit H-D.com.
