Motorcycle Hangouts in Nashville

Nashville is a great place to explore on a bike, with a lot of interesting neighborhoods and unique places to stop and get a bite or a drink.

Bikini Beach

Despite the name, this is actually a) landlocked and b) not a cheesy tourist bar. It’s very much a local dive bar, with a crowd that’s part genuine bikers, part easygoing locals, and a few tourists—but its own local vibe prevails. The bartenders are skilled, the overall demeanor is friendly, and there’s karaoke every other Friday. (And a jukebox the rest of the time!)

Barista Parlor

If you’re looking for a great cup of morning coffee, and maybe a fresh-baked biscuit sandwich with locally made sausage, ride on over to any Barista Parlor location. Sure, it’s a little hipster, in a served-on-a-wooden-plank-with-a-bandanna-napkin sort of way… but that sounds pretty good to us!

Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint

Martin’s is a hickory-smoked extravaganza—we’re talking the whole hog here. In addition to the smoked meat from 4 pits, there are games, a beer garden, and a stage for live music. There’s Tennessee-style pulled pork, brisket, and ribs, and it’s all quite legit. For something unique, order your meat as a ‘Redneck Taco’—it’ll arrive on top of a housemade corncake.

Hattie B’s

Ever heard of ‘Nashville hot chicken’? As the name suggests, this town invented the stuff. It’s crispy fried chicken with a hot/sweet (think cayenne, salt, and brown sugar) twist, and it’s nothing short of a revelation. No trip to Nashville is complete without a trip to Hattie B’s, where they make one of the best renditions of this hometown classic.

Tennessee Motorcycles & Music Revival

There are a few motorcycle rallies in the country worth traveling to, and the Tennessee Motorcycles & Music Revival is one of them. It’s four days of revelry with people who love motorcycles—including custom builders, musicians, and lots of others who live to ride. And it takes place on the 3,500-acre ranch of country music royalty: the coal miner’s daughter herself, Loretta Lynn. Plan your trip for the end of May if you want to be in town for this event; it’s just an hour outside of Nashville, in Hurricane Mills.

Nashville Weather: When's the Best Time to Ride?

Nashville has a relatively moderate climate so that good riding days can be found throughout the year.

January is typically the coldest month when temps can dip into the high 20s. The warmest days are usually in July, with highs in the 80s. The summer months are typically pretty humid. Spring is the most pleasant season overall in terms of temperature (and lack of humidity), with the caveat that May has the most rainfall, and there can be the occasional tornado in the spring months, too. Fall can be great riding weather as long as you’re prepared for the cooler temperatures.

Nashville Motorcycle Rules & Tips

As always, it’s important to ride safely. In Nashville, that means watching out for ice (in the winter months), being prepared for rain and sometimes hail (especially in spring), and watching for cars turning from the middle lane.

In the state of Tennessee, everyone (riders and passengers) must wear a helmet when they’re on a motorcycle. Riders and passengers also have to wear eye protection, unless the motorcycle has a windshield. Passengers can be any age, as long as they’re wearing a helmet and eye protection.

Also, take note that lane splitting and lane filtering are illegal.

Preparing For Your Nashville Ride

Because Nashville can be humid, you’ll want to bring protective but well-ventilated clothing if you’re visiting in the summer months. If you’ll be there in the fall or winter, bring gear that will keep you warm in the high 20s to low 60s range. Bringing layers is always a good idea—that way, you'll be prepared for temperature fluctuations.

You’ll, of course, also want to bring your helmet, riding boots, jacket, etc. (Make sure you check out our article on traveling with motorcycle gear before you leave!)

If you’re not traveling with your protective gear, please let us know, and we can work with the owner to try to find local options for you. Often, owners are more than happy to lend their gear to fellow riders.
