Honda was started by Soichiro Honda in the 1920s, as an auto repair shop, and soon began manufacturing piston rings. When Japan needed affordable transportation options after WWII, Soichiro sold his piston-ring business and began to focus on motorcycles. In 1949, Honda launched their first two-stroke motorcycle, the Model D, and in 1951, they followed with the Dream E with a four-stroke engine. In 1968, Honda celebrated their production of their 10 millionth motorcycle, and has continued to produce millions of well-engineered motorcycles ever since.
