Daytona Bike Week dates back to January 24, 1937, with the inaugural Daytona 200 race on the beach and pavement course. Ed Kretz won the first race on an Indian motorcycle at an average speed of 73.34 mph.
Despite a WWII hiatus, Bike Week thrived, resuming in 1947 under "Big Bill" France, NASCAR co-founder. His family's International Speedway Corporation has since been at the helm, shaping this iconic motorcycle event.
