It might not be known for mountain views, but the Midwest has some amazing stops and roads to ride and explore. Brad S. of McHenry, IL just outside of Chicago, found a partner to explore the open road with. Read on to hear more about where he rides and loves to stop and hang out.
How long have you been riding? Which bikes have you owned, and how did you become interested in riding?
50-plus years—too many! My dad and big brother stole me in the night to ride. Haha!
What moto trips have you taken (long or short)? Where did you go, stay, and explore? Tell us some highlights.
I've stayed in The Blue Motorcycle Lodge in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, and have ridden in Denver, Colorado, through the Rockies. We did the Grand Canyon last August—and would like to do more. Mike was our motorcycle owner/host. Great guy. I was having altitude sickness and he helped me out with O2 canisters that saved me and our ride.

Do you have someone you ride with often?
My girlfriend Denise. We met on Biker Planet (a biker dating community) here in Illinois. She's new to biking…me 50 years-plus on EVERYTHING!
What do you enjoy about being part of the Twisted Road community?
We have used your service twice now and will again in the future. You make it easy.
What are your favorite biker-friendly places around your hometown?
The Lodge in downtown Antioch, Illinois.
What are your favorite rides near your hometown?
All over South Wisconsin. Beautiful roads. We go to the Blue Highway Motorcycle Inn in Hillsboro, WI mid-state. They have the "Cow Tail " nearby—a mini Dragon Tail that's challenging. And we love the many nice roads and establishments in that area in of Southern Wisconsin/Lake Geneva.
What location is on your moto trip bucket list?
More Grand Canyon next summer.
