Twisted Road Member Noah T., is taking full advantage of his hometown of San Diego. It can be nice to get away, but exploring our own stomping grounds can be just as rewarding—finding comfort in the ol' standbys or excitement in something new. Maybe Noah will inspire you to explore your own city.
How long have you been riding, which bikes have you owned and how did you become interested in riding?
I started riding in 2014 during my undergraduate study. I have always been obsessed with supercars and superbikes, and so started with a Ninja 250. After a little over a year of experience, I moved up to my current ZX-6R. I just can't get over how fun it is to buy a bike for $5k that has the same performance as a $300k supercar.
What moto trips have you taken (long or short)? Where did you go, stay and explore? Tell us some highlights.
Being an avid superbike enthusiast, the longest trip I have been on was around 4 hours. For me, motorcycles represent freedom, since it's just you, the engine, and some tires. Recently I rented an MV Agusta F4 1000 S on Twisted Road for the weekend. The plan was to ride up to San Clemente from San Diego for a Cars & Coffee, but the weather turned out to be rainy. I braved the rain in my newly-rented bike and made it up just fine. The owner, Nick W. had maintained the bike perfectly, and I felt confident with the new tires and brakes.
The jump to 1000ccs was quite different from my usual 600ccs, but exactly what I needed for a fun weekend. This is what renting is all about—choose your dream bike and ride it until you're tired, then ride some more!
I also had the chance to snap some beautiful pictures of the bike during the rental mostly for myself, but also for the owner. He liked the pictures so much he immediately updated the listing with my pictures of the bike. There's something so special about the MV Agusta that really shines through in pictures.
Twisted Road Tip: Twisted Road has you covered for all types of weather. Check out our recs for cold weather gear, summer jackets for all, summer jackets for women, warm weather gear for women and men.
What hobbies do you enjoy when you're not riding?
Outside of riding, I enjoy photography, hockey, and anything active. I live in San Diego so I surf, paddleboard, snorkel, run, bike, swim, etc.
What do you enjoy about being part of the Twisted Road community?
Twisted Road gives you that opportunity to rent your dream bike. You get to share the love for two wheels, and the freedom that comes with a twist of the throttle.
What are your favorite biker-friendly places around your hometown?
The South OC Cars & Coffee has a great appreciation for anything on wheels. If you have a superbike, there's always a spot for you to show off your bike every Saturday in San Clemente 9-11AM.
What are your favorite rides near your hometown?
The highways around San Diego are great for cruising. If you want scenery, take Torrey Pines Road past Del Mar Beach. If you want canyons, head out Highway 94 towards Jamul where you'll find twisted roads (pun intended) and plenty of open space.
What location is on your moto trip bucket list?
I would love to ride around Malibu, CA, or even around Monterey. If I'm really dreaming, I want to ride a Ducati around Italy!
