Chris V. shares some of his stellar rides around the country and beyond. One place he has not ridden? The North Pole—but he did write a book about a boy who does.
Tell us about your riding experience. How long have you been riding, and how many bikes have you owned? How did you first become interested in riding?
I’ve been riding since 1999. I’ve owned 10 or so bikes over the years. I currently ride a 2003 100th Anniversary edition Harley-Davidson Road King Classic—which is listed on Twisted Road. I also have a 1999 BMW R1200c, the James Bond bike. It’s the bike my dad had when he got me into riding.
Have you taken any long moto trips? Tell us about them: where did you go, where did you stay, who did you ride with?
Oh man…so many long trips. I’ve ridden roundtrips from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Sturgis, Las Vegas, NV to Sturgis, Orlando, FL to New York, NY, St. Louis, MO to Annapolis MD, countless trips with my dad to Daytona. I’ve also ridden in Canada, Spain, and Australia. I’ve got some great pictures and stories. Every trip involves some motorcycle camping, some hotels, and some couch surfing with old college buddies.
Tell us some more about you - where do you live? What kind of work do you do?
Charlotte, North Carolina. I work for an online learning software company.
What are your hobbies - what do you enjoy doing when you're not riding?
I wrote and self-published a kids' book about a boy who rides his motorcycle to the North Pole to save Christmas. For every book sold, I donate one to charity.
Tell us about your experiences with Twisted Road, as either an owner, as a rider, or both. What do you enjoy most about being part of our community?
I’ve had my bike listed for a year or two, unfortunately no one has rented it yet. I also haven’t had the chance to use Twisted Road as a renter because my work travel has been cancelled.
What are your favorite rides near your hometown?
Definitely the Blue Ridge Parkway. All roads seem to lead there, from here.
Last question: where do you hope to ride one day?
I hope to ride in all 50 states. My count is at 43 now. Alaska, Ireland, and the mountains of Italy are all on my bucket list too.
