Twisted Road member Lori L. has seen some pretty incredible parts of the world on two-wheels.
If you aren't already dreaming of warm-weather motorcycle rides, Lori's sun-on-your-face, warm-breeze-in-your-hair travels will surely put you there.
How long have you been riding? Which bikes have you owned and how you did you become interested in riding?
I've been riding for 43 years (I started at 10). I've owned a Suzuki 50, Honda Silverwing, Honda Interceptor 500, BMW 1150GS, Triumph Tiger 800 (which is currently in Costa Rica—I rode it here from Arizona) and I also currently own a 2016 Harley Davidson Street Glide special.
I became interested in bikes growing up with my father—he was known as “Rapid Robert the Rocket” and he raced Enduro bikes all thru the Midwest. He bought me my first bike at 10, and when I was 15 he bought me a Honda Silverwing. I rode that to high school before I ever had a car. Then in college I graduated to the Interceptor which was a lot of fun, but I sold it and moved out West.
In 2007, my dad said, "I’m going to Alaska, want to go?" He had two BMW motorcycles up there, so off I went.
What moto trips have you taken (long or short)? Where did you go, stay, and explore? Tell us some highlights.
There are too many to list! I have ridden from Anchorage, Alaska to San Francisco, SF to Phoenix, Phoenix to Belize, then Belize to Costa Rica.
After my riding partner ditched me in a 3rd world country, I figured it would be safer if I went without him anyway! So I rode solo from Belize to Costa Rica in about 7 days. I have traversed the country numerous times, primarily the southwest region, and all over California too. I have more miles backing up to a curb than most have going forward.
What hobbies do you enjoy when you're not riding?
Travel, exploring new places, my dog and 2 cats, dancing and creating cool stuff.
What do you enjoy about being part of the Twisted Road community?

What are your favorite biker-friendly places around your hometown?
In and near Sedona, Hideaway, Roadhouse, Buffalo Chip, and Harrolds.
What are your favorite rides near your hometown?
Yarnell Hill over to Jerome then into Sedona. The ride up Yarnell Hill has fun, twisty curves and leads to an old restaurant called Ranch House. From there you roll up through Yarnell and into Skull Valley for wide-open, sweeping, beautiful roads, and spectacular views!
From there, you roll down into the valley of Sedona. With its red mountain peaks and beautiful vistas, it is truly one of the most breathtaking rides in the world.
Speaking of a bucket list, what location is on your moto trip bucket list?
Finishing my ride to Ushuaia, Argentina; I'm trying to connect the whole Pan American highway. Tip to tip!
