Member Spotlight: Riding The Trans America Trail With Roger B.

Twisted Road Member Roger B. of Clifton, TX has been riding motorcycles for five decades. So if anyone has something new and interesting to tell us, it would be a guy like Roger. With miles of experience on enough motorcycles to make your head spin he shares with us some of his experiences, favorite spots to stop, and even some bucket list rides.

How long have you been riding, which bikes have you owned, and how did you become interested in riding?

My dad was a motorcycle enthusiast, I started off on a pull-string mini-bike at about 5 years old and went from that to a YZ80 and then several other dirt bikes. My first street bike was a 1983 Honda CM250C.

So, I've been riding for about 50 years as I am now 55 years old. I've owned more motorcycles than I can remember and I currently own a 2020 HD Road Glide Limited, a 2017 Suzuki DR650, a Honda CRF 250X, and several dirt bikes used in my business. Someday soon, I plan on purchasing an HD Pan America

What moto trips have you taken (long or short). Where did you go, stay, and explore? Tell us some highlights.

I traveled part of the Trans America Trail (TAT) in Mississippi and Tennessee with my son on my DR 650 and his DRZ 400 a couple of years ago. Although we stayed in hotels and didn't exactly rough it, it was a memory-making trip!

The first street bike trip I ever took was in 1985 on that Honda with two Navy buddies. We rode from Newport News, VA to Chester, South Carolina, and back one weekend for another Navy buddy's wedding. We didn't know much about gear back then and got soaked and ate a lot of giant grasshoppers. I'm glad the speed limit was 55 mph most of the way because that CM250C couldn't carry my big ass much faster on the highway!

What location is on your moto trip bucket list?
