The Smoky Mountains are a national treasure with roads and routes for all levels of riders. This day trip will be an adventure both on and off of your bike. Read on to discover the route and some sweet spots not to be missed.
Starting Point: Maggie Valley
Blue Ridge Parkway
Taking more than 52 years to complete, this road was designed to maximize the views of the Appalachian Mountains. Outdoor adventures abound in Maggie Valley, located near the majestic Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Point of Interest: Great Smoky Mountains National Park
The park is on the border between North Carolina and Tennessee, and is home to hiking trails that boast wildflowers all year long, as well as waterfalls and lush forests.
Clingmans Dome Road
The twisty road out to Clingmans Dome Road holds visual treasures as far as the eye can see — and some hidden treasures that are not so easy to see. Look for the hidden tunnel, less than a mile west of the junction between Clingmans Dome Road and Newfound Gap Road. Other hidden treasures include Gourley’s Pond , Lost CCC Camps, and The Sinks.
Fighting Creek Gap Road
This part of the route has plenty of nature's gifts to to delight you. Fighting Creek Nature Trail begins at the Sugarlands Visitor Center, and takes you through trees rising above your head and creeks below your feet. Cataract Falls might be short in distance, but it's long on scenery.
Wears Cove Gap Road
Previously known as Crowson Cove and now Nicknamed 'the Jewel of the Smokies', this entrance to the Smoky Mountains connects to sights like Cades Cove and Newfound Gap. Take in the sights and smells of soaring trees before you settle into the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area for lunch with a view like no other.
Point of interest: Dragon Pitt Inn & BBQ
Have lunch at this midway stop or get a room and stay the night. Sit on your room's porch or balcony to relax and take in the view while nestled into the side of a mountain. This inn is a favorite among bikers and drivers alike. They are open seasonally, so be sure to check their website for hours and availability.
Point of Interest: Bald River Falls
This waterfall is noted as one of the most awe-inspiring in the area. The view of water cascading over 100 feet onto the landscape below, and eventually emptying into the Tellico River, turns with the seasons for an ever-changing landscape show of color.
Cherohala Skyway
Unobstructed, tree-blanketed mountains, scenic overlooks at every turn, and world-class hiking spots -- this road won't be a well-kept secret for long. It was named one of the "Top 10 Motorcycle Rides in North America" and appears on "10 Great Motorcycle Rides in North America." There are not a lot of places to stop for gas and grub along the way, so ride prepared.

Don't miss this stop, home to one of the world's top collections of motorcycles, memorabilia, and one-of-a-kind examples of American-made vehicles. Exhibits include American racers, a chopper graveyard, military motos, and more.
Grab your partner and dancing shoes to visit this unique dance hall, self-proclaimed as the "Cloggin' Capitol of the World." Settle into one of the nearly 1,000 seats, or join in the fun on the 60 x 80 dance floor.
Elevated Mountain Distilling Company
Carrying on the tradition of moonshiners of yore, this family-owned distillery is crafting top-shelf whiskeys and spirits. Stop in for tours and tastings!
