2025 Harley Pan America 1250 ST Launches - A More Road Focused ADV

Harley-Davidson took a bold leap into the adventure touring world with the launch of the Pan America in 2021, blending the brand's V-twin heritage with off-road capability.

While the model held its own off the pavement—something I confirmed firsthand during my review of the Pan America 1250 CVO—its true strengths have always leaned toward upright adventure touring, with a focus on comfort and road performance rather than tackling hardcore off-road terrain.

Now, the 2025 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 ST takes that road-biased philosophy even further. Harley has stripped away the heavy off-road components, revamping the bike’s street capabilities to deliver a more agile, refined sport-touring experience without losing the versatility that made the Pan America a standout in the first place.

The Pan America lineup has already become a favorite on Twisted Road, with riders eager to experience its unique blend of power and comfort. With the arrival of the new ST version, we’re expecting even more demand. But before you take one for a spin, here’s everything you need to know about the PA1250 ST.

Built for the Street, Tuned for Performance

The Pan America 1250 ST stands lower and slimmer than its predecessor, focusing on refined road manners while maintaining the confidence-inspiring upright seating position that adventure riders love. It retains the liquid-cooled Revolution Max 1250 V-Twin engine—known for its broad torque curve and high-revving character—but drops the heavy-duty off-road gear in favor of a more road-oriented setup.

Key upgrades that set the ST apart from the Pan America 1250 Special and include:

  • 17-inch Cast Aluminum Wheels (vs. 19/17-inch setup): These smaller wheels sharpen handling, improve cornering agility, and allow for high-performance street rubber like the Michelin Scorcher Sport tires.
  • Reduced Suspension Travel: With 6.75 inches of travel at both ends (down from 7.5 inches), the lower ride height improves stability and lowers the bike's center of gravity for more precise handling on twisty roads.
  • Lighter Exhaust & Quickshifter: Harley removed the mid-chamber from the exhaust system to shed weight and amplify the signature V-twin roar. The Screamin’ Eagle Quickshifter adds clutchless upshifts and downshifts, improving acceleration and control.
  • Slimmer Styling: A smaller radiator shroud, a low-profile smoked windshield, and the removal of brush guards create a more aggressive, performance-driven aesthetic.

The 1,252cc Revolution Max V-twin engine continues to deliver 149 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 91 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,750 rpm. Known for its broad, linear power delivery, this engine offers seamless throttle response, whether carving through backroads or cruising at highway speeds. Combined with Harley's latest electronics, the new PA offers:

  • Smooth Power Delivery: The flat torque curve ensures robust acceleration throughout the rev range, making it easy to power out of corners or pass traffic with confidence.
  • Chassis Integration: Acting as a stressed member of the chassis, the engine enhances overall rigidity while keeping weight in check.
  • Advanced Electronics: Multiple ride modes (Road, Sport, Rain, and two customizable options) adjust throttle response, traction control, and braking to suit various riding conditions.

In regards to suspension, the Showa electronic suspension system is tuned for refined street performance, offering a comfortable yet planted ride. Travel is reduced to 6.75 inches, optimizing the bike’s stability while cornering, and increasing comfort on longer street tours. Thankfully, Adaptive Ride Height (ARH) remains an option, automatically lowering the bike at stops for easier foot placement and returning to full ride height when moving.

Harley-Davidson didn't skimp in the rider aid, either. The Pan America 1250 ST arrives with The Motor Company's latest suite of electronic safety aids, including:

  • Cornering-Enhanced ABS & Linked Brakes: Providing confidence under hard braking, especially in corners.
  • Cornering Traction Control & Drag-Torque Slip Control: Helping maintain traction during aggressive acceleration or downshifting.
  • Front-Wheel Lift Mitigation: Preventing unwanted front-end lift during spirited riding.
  • Vehicle Hold Control (VHC): Aiding in hill starts by holding the bike steady.
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS): Keeping tabs on tire health for added peace of mind.

A 6.8-inch color TFT touchscreen display offers seamless connectivity with the Harley-Davidson App, allowing riders to manage calls, music, and navigation without distraction. Bluetooth headset integration enhances the experience, creating a cleaner, wire-free cockpit.

A one-piece seat design balances comfort and control, making long rides more manageable while offering support during spirited cornering. The ST’s updated styling features a smaller composite radiator shroud and a refined windscreen for better aerodynamics and reduced fatigue at highway speeds.

While the Pan America 1250 ST is built with a street-first focus, Harley hasn’t forgotten its touring DNA. Riders can outfit the bike with optional Sport Side Cases and a Detachable Top Case, both offering waterproof storage for extended trips.

The 2025 ST is available in Billiard Gray, Vivid Black, and Brilliant Red, with blacked-out wheels, subframe, and engine components for a sleek, aggressive look. Pricing starts at $19,999.

Pan American ST 2025

The Next Evolution of the Pan America

Harley-Davidson has successfully carved out a niche with the Pan America lineup, proving that American engineering can hold its own in the adventure touring segment. The Pan America 1250 ST refines that formula for those who primarily stick to the pavement but still want an ADV's commanding stance and versatility. With its lower stance, lighter exhaust, and quickshifter, the ST offers a sportier take on Harley’s adventure platform—making it an attractive option for riders looking to transition from its traditional baggers or cruisers.

The Pan America lineup has been a popular rental option on Twisted Road, and the ST is sure to follow suit. Whether you're planning an epic road trip or just want to experience Harley's take on adventure sport, renting one might just be the perfect way to try before you buy.
